What kind of game is it?

Diyar Online is a multiplayer action RPG you play on your phone. It has a serious story, fluid combat and a world that is built together; all on one continent, all in pixel art drawn entirely in code.

  • A serious story

A 4-chapter main story, a dark fantasy. Conversations play as scenes: portraits and text that unfolds line by line. The story is optional; the gates of the maps depend on your level alone, and the story tells you why you go.

  • Fluid combat, deep skills

Hold the Attack button: an unbroken combo chain. 4 advanced skills at Lv 10, 15, 20 and 25, and every skill goes up I–V ranks. At the Blacksmith your weapon and armor climb to +9; if an attempt fails, only gold and materials are lost.

  • A world built together

Build your house on any valid spot, grow a village, found a guild, hunt in a party. Every season all players stand against the same Winter together. Everyone plays in the same world on the same server.

What is in it?

The main story: Winter is coming

In the middle of summer, frost settles on the Akkale Plains. The Totems of Diyar are howling and the plains are running from something. The Howl numbs most people; very few hear it and keep their minds. They are called the Awakened. Hızır, the Elder Sage of Akkale, finds you and sends you on your way.

  1. Chapter 1

  2. Chapter 2

    The Year of the Wolf

    Lv 8–15 Gürgen Lands

The wolves are starving and heading south. The scouts of Kuzgunkale are missing.

  3. Chapter 3

    The Ashes of Yaruk

    Lv 16–23 Ancient Lands

Beneath the desert and the ruins lies a forgotten khanate. The secret of the Totems is there.

  4. Chapter 4

    Frost and Ember

Lv 24–30 Land of Fire and Ice

Frost clings to the walls of Demirkale in summer. The ice comes down from the peaks; the embers still burn.

Conversations are scenes

Story characters talk to you in a scene: portraits, text that unfolds line by line, choices. You accept a quest in the scene and hand it in there when the job is done. If you prefer the plainer view, switch the dialogue scenes to "Compact" on the ☰ Menu › Settings page.

The story never locks you out

The gates of the maps depend on your level alone. Someone who skips the story goes everywhere too; the story tells you why you go. The Winter King is not a required step of the story: he wakes by himself on the final weekend of the season.

Story conversations play as scenes: portraits, text that unfolds line by line, choices. Hızır greets you in the square of Akkale; Chapter 1 begins here.

Every chapter has a herald

The herald of Chapter 1 is Rimehorn: a huge, ice-horned Pack Leader that drank the howl of a Totem in the Northern Pinewood. Warnings on the ground show his attacks ahead of time; you move when the ring fills. The next heralds draw you to the forest of Gürgen, the desert of the Ancient Lands and the Land of Fire and Ice.

    Cooldown 20 s · 40 mana

Skills need no aiming: they turn toward the target or the way you are walking by themselves. As you level up, you spend points on STRENGTH / VITALITY / DEXTERITY / INTELLIGENCE up to level 30.

Skills and ranks

Every class has seven skills. The first three open at Lv 1, 3 and 5; 4 advanced skills follow at Lv 10, 15, 20 and 25. Every skill goes up to I–V ranks: with each rank the damage grows, the cooldown shrinks and the skill's own number gets bigger.

Every level gives a Skill Point, and the main story pays extra. You spend them on whichever skill you like. Spent them badly? You can reset once for free: every rank goes back to I and your points come back.

On ☰ Menu › Character › Skills you spend your points and put a newly opened skill on one of the skill buttons around the Attack button (three buttons a page; Page flips to the second). Long press a skill and it turns AUTO: Auto Hunt then uses it by itself.

The Skills tab of the Character page: every level gives a Skill Point and the main story pays extra. A higher rank means more damage and a shorter cooldown. You can reset your points once for free.

Hold, cut, dodge

Hold the Attack button for an unbroken chain of combos. Tap an enemy to keep attacking until it drops. Heavy blows are marked on the ground ahead of time so you can dodge; crits, stuns, knockback and camera shake make every hit feel solid. In Settings you choose the size and visibility of the joystick and mirror the layout for left-handed play.

The Attack button sits at the bottom right with an arc of skills around it. Lv 10, 15, 20 and 25 open four more skills, and every skill goes up to ranks I–V.

Blacksmith: +0 to +9

On the Blacksmith's Upgrade tab your weapon and armor climb from +0 to +9. You see the chance and the cost before you try; when an attempt fails only gold and materials are lost.

You strengthen your weapon and the armor you wear on the Blacksmith's Upgrade tab. Every attempt costs gold and materials: Whetstone, Steel Essence and Star Iron. The materials drop in the game and can also be crafted with Blacksmithing recipes; rods, shovels, axes and pickaxes are not upgraded.

If an attempt fails, only the gold and the materials are lost: your item does not break and does not lose a level. A +9 weapon adds 50% damage to every hit. From +7 on your weapon glows, and other players see it too.

The Path: what is next?

The Path page (☰ Menu › Path) always shows your next goals: your story chapter, the skill about to open and your next level gate. Every card has a progress bar and a Go button; Go walks you there, up to the gate if it is on another map.

Titles and achievements

Your title shows above your name for everyone; you pick one on the Path page. Story chapters, achievements and the season give titles. There are 22 achievements in 5 groups: Path, Exploration, Combat, Life, Social. Their rewards are only titles and cosmetics; they never give power, gold or items.

Level gates

Every new map and every boss opens at a level. In front of a gate you see why; below the level your hits pass through a boss. The gates of the maps:

  • Gürgen Lands Lv 8
  • Spider Cave Lv 10
  • Ancient Lands Lv 16
  • Bone King's Tomb Lv 18
  • Land of Fire and Ice Lv 24
The Path page (from the ☰ menu): your next goal is always in front of you: the story chapter, the skill about to open, the level gates; titles and achievements too. Rewards are only titles and cosmetics.

Hybrid quests

Hunting and gathering quests finish by themselves when the goal is full; nobody to run to. You hand in story quests and special jobs to the character yourself. Go in the tracker walks you to the goal.

Auto Hunt knows your quest

Tap the Hunt button for Auto Hunt: your character picks targets, attacks, drinks potions and collects loot. With an open hunting or Totem quest it hunts those targets first and stops when the quest is done. Auto Hunt is free for everyone.

The world: 6 maps

It starts on the Akkale Plains and moves on through the Gürgen Lands, the Ancient Lands and the Land of Fire and Ice: from green meadows to dense forest, marsh, ruins, desert, volcano and glaciers. Every map opens at its own level gate (see "Opens at" on the cards) and has its own regions, settlements and boss. The bird's-eye views below were drawn from the game's own map data.

A real 3D world, a camera at your fingertips

Trees, rocks, bushes, buildings, furniture, stations and map edges are real 3D voxel (block) models: when the camera turns they do not sit there like a flat picture, they really rotate and cast their shadows. The camera follows you from a diagonal angle; the two round buttons left of the minimap turn it by 90°, spreading and pinching two fingers zooms in and out, and a double tap on a button puts the view back. Characters, monsters and effects stay pixel art.

Everything is drawn with crisp pixels: no blur and no broken pixels. Building interiors are furnished too; the roof turns transparent when you walk in and the door opens as you approach. A day lasts 24 real minutes: lamps light up at night, with rain, snow or ash by region.

The phone camera, as it is: the two round buttons at the top right turn the view by 90°, spreading and pinching two fingers zooms in and out, and a double tap on a button puts the view back.

Bosses and dragons

Every boss has attacks that are shown on the ground ahead of time and phases that change at health thresholds. Loot is personal and depends on the damage you deal: rare weapons and old maps can drop. The Ash Dragon and the Frost Dragon are world bosses: roughly every 10 minutes one of them wakes, is announced, takes to the air and rains meteors. Besides these 7 arena bosses, an event boss (Winter King) appears during the season event.

Home and village: your own land

A house on any valid spot

Building a house opens at level 10: a new character starts without a deed, and you buy it from the Architect NPC for 3,500 gold, one payment (demolish the house and the deed comes back, so building again is free). On ☰ Menu › Home tap Build house: a ghost house (6×5 tiles) follows your finger; green means you can build there, red means you cannot. Build places it, Cancel drops it. You can build anywhere except near settlements, roads, water, boss arenas and enemy packs. One house per account, and it is permanent.

You furnish the house from the inside: a table, chairs, a rug, a bed, a chest. If you own a house you respawn in front of it when you die; otherwise you respawn at the nearest settlement; you can respawn at your bed too. The roof turns transparent when you walk in, and the door opens by itself as you approach.

A village: your own land

  1. Build your house. Owning a house is required to found a village; houses can be built from level 10.
  2. Get the Village Founding Stone. Buy it from the Architect NPC for 800 gold; one per player.
  3. Name it. Pick a name of 3–16 characters for your village and plant the stone near your house.
  4. Grow it. Take in members (up to 24), collect donations, build structures.
You build your house on any valid spot: outside settlements, roads and water, on whichever meadow you like. One house per account, permanent; you respawn in front of it when you die.
  • Hamlet → Village → Town

Your village is a territory with a 24-tile radius; the founder becomes Headman and gets a free Respawn Shrine next to it. As the number of houses and contributions (donations) grow, the village levels up: a Village at 3 houses and 150 contribution, a Town at 6 houses and 600 contribution.

  • Market, storage, shared station

At Village level the Headman builds a shared station that stands in for a crafting bench and a furnace. At Town level a market board and a shared storage open up. Members post listings (4 each), anyone buys with gold, and 5% of each sale goes to the village treasury. An offline seller's income waits in their mailbox.

  • Decoration and respawn

The Headman can set up decorations such as wells, lanterns, banners and fences; half of a structure's cost returns to the treasury when it is removed. Members can pick "In front of my house" or "Village shrine" as their respawn point. The village chat channel is open to members only.

Guild, party and PvP

Guild

A guild is independent of your village: a lasting organization across all maps. You found one at the innkeeper for Lv 10 and 1000 gold; its name and tag show on the player plate. You manage it on the ☰ Menu › Social › Guild tab.

  • Ranks: Leader, Officer, Member. The Leader and Officers invite.
  • Guild chat: pick the Guild channel in chat and what you write goes to your guild only; the notice tab greets everyone.
  • A shared chest: next to the innkeeper you move items between your bag and the chest.
  • Guild level: the XP of the members grows the guild; as it grows, the member limit and the chest grow too.
  • Guild wars: a war starts only when both guilds agree. No war without consent.
Guild (☰ menu, Social page): an organization independent of your village, across all maps. Ranks, guild chat, a notice, a shared chest and wars both guilds agree to; the guild levels up as it grows.

Party and friends

On ☰ Menu › Social › Party you form a party of up to 8; it survives a map change. XP and loot are shared, and there is no friendly fire. The Friends tab is your friends list (100 players): you see the map and level of the friends who are online.

Long press a player, or tap a name in chat: send a message, add as friend, invite to your party or guild, Inspect, block. All in one menu.

Chat

Seven channels: nearby (18 tiles), global (the whole world), village, party, guild, whisper and system (boss announcements, level-ups). The Chat button at the bottom left opens quick chat: channel chips, ready-made phrases and the Dance, Wave, Laugh and Sit emotes go out with one tap; emotes appear as a bubble above your head. Tap the name of anyone you do not want to hear from and block them from the menu.

Villagers move between the market, the fountain and the inn according to the time of day, go home at night, and the blacksmith hammers to a rhythm. The world is alive not only for fighting but for just looking at.

PK mode

You can hit players anywhere; protection comes from your status. There are two modes: Peaceful (the default: you cannot hurt innocent players) and Aggressive (you can hit anyone).

  • Clean an innocent player
  • Outlaw someone who struck an innocent first; 2 min, renewed with every offense
  • Bloodstained a repeat killer

Players below Lv 10 are under newbie protection: they cannot be hit and they cannot hit. Anyone can hit an Outlaw or a Bloodstained player without penalty, and town guards chase them.

Partial corpse looting

When a player dies you do not lose everything, but nothing is free either. 50% of the unprotected items in your bag and 25% of your coins drop on the corpse. Equipped tools and weapons and your Safe Pocket are safe. The corpse stays for 3 minutes; for the first 30 seconds only the killer can loot it, then anyone can. Whatever is not taken returns to the owner's bag. Killing the same person again within 15 minutes leaves an empty corpse: chasing someone gets no reward.

Life: more than fighting

7 separate profession levels progress independently of your character level (1–10); gathering, fishing, treasure and 36 crafting recipes depend on them. Results are computed on the server, so there is no cheating.

  • Woodcutting
  • Mining
  • Alchemy
  • Fishing
  • Carpentry
  • Tailoring
  • Blacksmithing
  • Fishing

Face the water and tap Cast. The server picks the moment of the bite: when the bobber sinks and "REEL!" shows up you have about a second; tap Reel in too early or too late and the fish gets away. You can catch anchovy, sea bass, swordfish, scales, pearls and, now and then, a bottle with a treasure map inside.

  • Treasure maps

An Old Map, or a map from a bottle, starts a hunt. The spot is kept on the server; you close in with "cold, warm, hot" hints. You dig with a shovel, standing still for 3 seconds; if you beat the guard pack that appears, the chest's contents are yours alone.

  • Crafting and batch crafting

Carpentry, tailoring, blacksmithing and alchemy: 36 recipes, from rods to crossbows, from potions to armor. Work next to the blacksmith, carpenter or alchemist (within 3 tiles) or at the village's shared station. Pick a quantity: up to 99 pieces at once, as far as materials and bag space last. Each piece finishes on its own timer; nothing is left half done.

  • Gathering

Trees, rocks and herb nodes are derived from the map. You gather wood with an axe and copper, iron, silver and obsidian with a pickaxe; healing herb and fire flower are picked by hand. The region band sets the material tier; nodes run out and come back in 2–4 minutes.

Season: Winter of Diyar

There is plenty to do after Lv 30 too: 9-week seasons. The Winter of the story becomes a real-time event every season: a winter that keeps advancing on its own, which all players push back together, and the Winter King it brings on the final weekend. The season runs in real time, even when you are not in the game. The Season page is in ☰ Menu › Season; the rankings are on its Ranking tab.

Winter Progress: a shared goal

One counter for the whole world. The Winter advances every day by itself (+5 level a day); everyone's contribution pushes it back: daily quests, the Howling Totem, bosses, fishing / gathering / crafting, treasure chests, village donations, discovering new places. The goal is scaled to the number of active players, so a small crowd can make it too. The first 120 points of your daily contribution count in full, up to 240 count half, and anything beyond counts 20%: the load is never carried by one person.

Season Path: 30 tiers

6390 season points in total. As you climb tiers you unlock gold, potions, maps, 2 cosmetics and four titles (from Winter Apprentice to Winter Conqueror); the path is open to everyone, always. Points are balanced too: the first 1200 of your weekly points count in full, up to 1800 count half, and anything beyond counts 20%. A relaxed player finishes the path, and someone who never stops cannot pull far ahead.

The Winter King: final weekend

A world boss that wakes on the season's last weekend; open for 2 hours, announced 24 hours, 1 hour and 10 minutes ahead. His health scales with the fighters and the Winter's level: the further you pushed the Winter back, the weaker he arrives (strength 85%–120%). Three phases (Frost Storm, ice servants, shatter ring): read the ground warnings and move. Everyone taking part gets personal loot, season points and the permanent Winter Victor title.

What happens when the season ends?

Player and village rankings are written to the Hall of Honor; the top 10 players get Season Elite / Season Champion and the members of the first village get the Village Champion title. Only your season progress resets (points, tier, daily and weekly counters). Your character, house, village, items and titles stay exactly as they are. After a 7-day break the next season starts.

Permanent titles

A title shows above your name for everyone to see. There are 8 season titles:

  • Winter Apprentice
  • Winter Sentinel
  • Icebreaker
  • Winter Conqueror
  • Winter Victor
  • Season Champion
  • Season Elite
  • Village Champion
On the season's final weekend the Winter King wakes in his arena. His health scales with the number of fighters and the Winter's level; everyone who joins gets loot, season points and the Winter Victor title.

Do I need an account?

No. You enter as a guest: the game creates an ID and keeps it on this device, your character is tied to it, and no email or password is asked. If you clear the app's data or remove the app you lose access to the character. If you want to continue on other devices too, you can create an account with an email and a password and link your guest character to it; your progress is not lost. Details: Privacy Policy.

Is it multiplayer?

Yes. The server runs the world; players meet on the same map, chat, hunt in parties, found guilds and villages and can turn on each other through PK mode. Hits, damage, loot and deaths are all computed on the server.

Do I have to play the story?

No. The gates of maps and bosses depend on your level alone; you go everywhere even if you never open the story. The story quests tell you why you go, and pay XP, gold, titles and Skill Points.

How do the first minutes go?

A short tutorial (9 steps, about 3–5 minutes, skippable at any time) takes you by the hand: it teaches walking, the camera, running, combat, loot, potions and pages by doing. A direction arrow, tap-to-walk, a minimap and a quest tracker are right there. Then you talk to Hızır and the story begins. You can replay it any time from ☰ Menu › Settings.

What resets when the season ends?

Only your season progress: your season points, your tier and your daily and weekly counters. Unclaimed rewards are granted automatically before the reset. Your character, house, village, items and the titles you earned stay exactly as they are; the rankings are written to the Hall of Honor.

Ready?

Create your character, talk to Hızır, see the frost with your own eyes. Winter is coming, and the Awakened have work to do.
